A downloadable game

This game is broken. And that’s... kind of the point. (You can skip down to "FOR THE BRAVE")

Welcome to lOOPS!hole, the first ever GMTK game to have an excuse for its glitches!

lOOPS!-hole is a short, chaotic puzzle platformer where you play the same glitched room again and again, each loop introducing new bugs, unintended mechanics, or reality-warping "features" that were absolutely, definitely not planned.

The textures have placeholders, the main menu and win screen is nowhere to be found, and ESC freezes everything but the player?

That’s because the developer didn’t finish the game. He meant to. He was adding stuff... and then life got in the way. He left behind only a few Devlogs and a barely working build—one looping room that seems to rewrite itself. You’re not supposed to be here. But you are. So now you have to figure it out.

Can you make it through all 5 loops?
Can you break what’s already broken?

FOR THE BRAVE:

You can try solving the loops on your own. Figure out the controls to get the authentic experience of a game tester for a broken game with no tutorial. However, I have prepared 6 Devlogs to guide you, and I recommend reading one each loop. (I couldnt think of a reason why the devlog would be IN THE GAME, so read below):

//Devlog #1
//Alright! Movement's good—A and D to walk, Space to jump.
//Basic button system is in. Press E near it, and it opens the door.
//Door opens fine. Room resets when you leave. Clean loop. No bugs so far.
//Not bad for a weekend build.
//music only starts playing when you press the button, though.
//I’ll fix that later. Maybe add a sound effect for the door opening too.
//Devlog #2
//Okay... strange issue.
//The door doesn’t open anymore? Button still makes the sound, but nothing happens.
//BUT if I walk past the door a bit, the scene loads anyway??? How?? Why??
//Leaving it for now. I’ll fix it later.
//Devlog #3
//This one’s frustrating.
//I didn’t *add* any crates, but now there’s one dropping from the ceiling??
//It blocks the door. Only way through is to click it with the mouse.
//I didn’t code that. I don’t even *have* mouse input in the script… do I?
//I’m either sleep-developing or something’s corrupting the build.
//Devlog #4
//Okay this is actually getting weird now.
//The button works... but it opens the *entrance* door now?
//Like, the one you came in from. It shouldn't even be interactable.
//None of this makes sense. The logic was fine last build.
//I think something’s rewriting itself. Or Unity’s just bugging out hard.
//Devlog #5
//Tried adding a pause menu today—just something simple.
//ESC should freeze the game, right? But... it doesn’t.
//Player keeps moving, but the crates freeze?
//I’ve triple-checked the input code. It’s not doing what it should.
//Maybe I’ll rewrite it tomorrow. Or maybe it’s useful? I don’t even know anymore.
//Devlog #6
//I didn't want to stop, but I think I have to.
//I never meant for it to get this weird. It was just supposed to be a puzzle platformer.
//There’s no ending. I never wrote one. But I guess… maybe that fits.
//If you're seeing this, maybe you’ll finish what I couldn’t.
//Or maybe you’ll just keep going in circles.
//...Either way, thanks for playing.
//you win, i guess.
